Speech Title: To Be Announced Carlos Busso is an IEEE Fellow and ISCA Fellow. He is a Professor at Language Technology Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, where he is also the director of the Multimodal Speech Processing Laboratory. Before joining CMU, he was a factuly member at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), where he served as an Assistant Professor (2009-2015), Associate Professor (2015-2020), and Full Professor (2020-2024) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research focuses on human-centered multimodal machine intelligence and its applications in speech-based interfaces. His work explores cutting-edge topics including speech and multimodal processing, affective computing, and social signal processing. His work has resulted in awards and recognitions including ACM ICMI Community Service Award, SIPI Distinguished Alumni Award, NSF Career Award, and Best Paper Awards in IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing 2023, ACII 2017, and ICME 2011. He is the current chair of the Steering Committee of ICMI.
Speech Title: Nonverbal Functional Spectrum Analysis and Beyond: Exploring Complex Group Dynamics Through Diverse Multimodal Functional Cues
Kazuhiro Otsuka received his B.E. and M.E. in electrical and computer engineering from Yokohama National University in 1993 and 1995, respectively. He received a Ph.D. in Information Science from Nagoya University in 2007. He joined the NTT Human Interface Laboratories, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation in 1995. From April 2001 until March 2020, he was subsequently a research scientist, senior research scientist/supervisor, and distinguished researcher at NTT Communication Science Laboratories. He joined Yokohama National University in 2020. Currently, he is a professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Yokohama National University. His current research interests include multimodal artificial intelligence, meeting analysis, nonverbal communication, group dynamics, and social telepresence. He was awarded the IAPR Int. Conf. on Image Analysis and Processing Best Paper Award in 1999, the Outstanding Paper Awards of the ACM Int. Conf. on Multimodal Interfaces (Interaction) in 2007, 2012, and 2014; the IEICE KIYASU-Zen’iti Award 2010; the Innovative Technologies Special Award from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2012; and others. He is a member of the IEEE, the IEICE, the IPSJ, and the JSAI.
