Remote Control

The Remote Control settings (main menu: Edit > Project Settings, then select the mobisim > Remote Control category) configure the TCP server that the simulator hosts for Remote Control. When the server is enabled, it starts at the beginning of every scene that contains a TCP Server component, and a client that you build can connect to it to trigger actions in the scene. No client app is provided; see Remote Control for the protocol and an example client.

These settings are a single asset shared by all platforms, but they are only included in Standalone builds, and the server itself only runs on Windows. When the active build target is not Windows, the page shows a notice that the settings do not apply to the current platform.

Remote Control Setting

Property
Description
Initialize on Startup
Master toggle for Remote Control. When enabled, the server starts automatically at the start of every scene that contains a TCP Server component. In the project as shipped, this setting is off.
IP Address
The local IPv4 address the server binds to. The default 0.0.0.0 listens on all network interfaces. Use 127.0.0.1 to accept connections from the same PC only, or a specific address to accept connections on one interface only. The dropdown lists 0.0.0.0 and the IPv4 addresses of the active Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and loopback interfaces on this PC; you can also type an address. If the text is not a valid IP address, or the address is not assigned to the PC running the simulator, the server does not start.
Port
The TCP port the server listens on. Must be between 1024 and 65535; the default is 8052 (the reset button next to the field restores it). Change it if another application already uses the port. Your client must use the same port.
note

The settings are stored in the build. To change the address or port of a built simulator, change the settings in the Editor and rebuild.
