Class FanatecPodiumWheelDD2InputDevice

Unity Input System custom device representing the Fanatec Podium DD2 direct-drive steering wheel, mapped from its raw HID report.

public class FanatecPodiumWheelDD2InputDevice : InputDevice

Inheritance

Remarks

Registering the Fanatec Podium DD2 as a first-class InputDevice lets Unity's Input System surface its axis the same way as a standard gamepad, so the same UnityEngine.InputSystem.InputAction bindings work for both the Fanatec wheel and keyboard/gamepad fallbacks used during developer testing.

The normalize parameters in steer remap the raw HID byte range to the [-1, 1] axis range that PrometeoCarController expects, accounting for the DD2's full 880° lock-to-lock range.

Properties

steer

public AxisControl steer { get; }

Property Value

AxisControl

Methods

FinishSetup()

protected override void FinishSetup()

Remarks

The Input System constructs the device object and allocates child controls before calling FinishSetup. Attempting to resolve child controls earlier — for example in a constructor — would throw because the control hierarchy does not yet exist. FinishSetup is therefore the first safe moment to bind the steer property to its named child control.
